new home for the cullens?

Dont you think this Dwell NextHouse would be a perfect home for a certain vampire family? The Cullens? Very similar to the Hoke house in the Twilight movie. I can see it featured in new moon.

Edward Cullen’s room – bookcase

So in my recent post on Edward’s room, I mentioned the Sapien bookcase from DWR. I just saw  similar one from West Elm for much less – infact only $150. This is an online only price and you can get it here.

Edward Cullen’s room

Each time I think of Edward’s room, I am reminded of the floor to ceiling windows overlooking lush green forests. I think of his music collection and I start humming Clair de Lune. Did you see the deleted scene after Edward shows Bella his room and she says “this is cool…”? Hell yeah it is!

A while back AT put together a post on how to create Edward Cullen’s bed room design and sourced some of the furniture in the movie.

Here are some of the sources -

Barcelona couch from Knoll

Platner Table from Knoll

Anga shelving from Ikea

You could also use the white lack shelves from Ikea to get the complete look

Sapien from DWR also featured here

I saw so many other things in his room that were not that obvious first time around. Of course as soon I source them you can find it here. You will be able to look up his entire room by using the tags – Edward Cullen’s room and Cullen home.

Which reminds me – some of the furniture in the Cullen home is antique and I love mixing antique furniture with modern architecture. I also noticed a lot of Asian accent pieces elegantly placed above bookcases. Do you know what the Native American wooden thing is called that Bella picked up? Its in the deleted scenes.

And how about that graduation hat artwork? Another post in the pipeline-  any recommendations for alternatives to the hat?

Now back to the soundtrack – flightless bird……….

Breaking Dawn On Isle Esme

I posted about Isle Esme on my other blog Mochatini. After so many requests from Twilight Fans, I decided to dedicate a section of my blog to Twilight Saga decor.

This was my first post on ISLE ESME on Feb 3, 2009.

I had posted about the Cullen home in the movie which in reality is the Hoke house and designed by Skylab Architects. This I found out thanks to Henry from Design Tavern’s research.

I am now on book 4 – Breaking Dawn and all I can say is its one nail biting page turner! I can’t put it down. I don’t know what it is but I am totally engrossed! I live, eat sleep in the Cullen house. I’m so into it that I am not sure what I will do once I am done with this last book in the series.

I have been thinking of ways to keep the series going for me. And one way I imagine doing this is by trying to visualize the decor of various rooms mentioned throughout the other books. New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. I know the movie New Moon is in production and I imagine the others are at least a couple of years away. So I decided to start with the house on ISLE ESME. I will not spoil anything for you except say that there is a house on the Isle of Esme mentioned in the book. And this is one of the many ways I picture it.

Isle Esme may or may not be real, but these places certainly are!

This is what some of you had to say.

Isle Esme: Very close to what I pictured when reading the book.
Hoke/Cullen House: Not really what came to mind.

Cullen Family Home

Edward Cullen: “What did you except? Dungeons, coffins, moats?”. Bella: “Um. No. Not moats.”

Modern day vampires have way cool houses. I guess it’s no biggie if you have been saving up for like 400 years. Compare interiors of movie Twilight  with those in the movie Interview with the Vampire.

Thanksgiving break we went to watch Twilight. And I have been hooked since then. I loved Edward’s entire house. The entry foyer. The floor to ceiling windows. The views from each of those windows. The kitchen. Even if they never use it. I even liked the artwork with the graduation caps. But what I loved the most was Edward’s room. The sophisticated and stylish decor. The posh French doors and of course the part where he can just take off and go tree hopping. I’m smitten, and I want to be bitten.
